Semen Detections are primarily utilized in determining
infidelity or rape.

combined. Other tested items include pants, feminine
pads and
tampons, bed linens, scrapings, washcloths, bathrobes, t-shirts,
pants, blouses, and
lingerie to name a few.

| In the
event your sample is positive for semen or sperm, you
may elect to proceed with DNA analysis for further
confirmation. The most
common DNA extractions are the Y-PLEX, specific for
male DNA, or the standard 16 Allele PowerPlex Profile. Each of these extraction types are highly successful
of producing a DNA profile for DNA found
within the stained area. This evidence may then be
used for comparison testing to determine if an
individual is likely to be a contributor to the stain.
DNA Extraction from a positive semen or sperm sample
provides further confirmation regarding the presence

I hired
SSDI on behalf of a client who had been charged with
indecency with a Child. SSDI went to the alleged scene
of the crime to look for any physical evidence that
would support the allegations against my client. From
the initial sweep with an ultra-violet light to the
comprehensive semen detection testing, SSDI did all
the things the detectives on the case should have done
for the prosecution. SSDI provided an excellent report
regarding their procedures and their findings.
Ultimately, the report served as the basis of SSDI's
testimony at my client's jury trial. He was easily
qualified before the Court as an expert and neither
his credentials nor his report was seriously
challenged. My client was acquitted after a brief jury
deliberation. The jurors discussed the case with me
after the verdict. The jurors agreed that they were
very impressed with the work SSDI did on the case.
They cited the work and testimony of SSDI as one of
the primary reasons they returned a verdict of
"Not Guilty." My client and I could not be
happier with SSDI. I plan to use them again in cases
like this one because they give me and my clients the
advantage we need for trial.

Semen, Sperm, and Saliva Detection

Testing Performed With Each Order:
- Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) . PSA is produced by the prostate gland
(male specific) and secreted in
seminal fluid. Unlike the acid
phosphatase presumptive test, detection of PSA requires
the presence of the semen protein without the need of the
target to perform an enzymatic function. (additional

- Microscopic
inspection - The substance is wet mounted and examined under
a high power phase microscope for the presence of sperm.
- Acid Phosphatase (AP)
- This is a 97% presumptive test for the enzyme PH level
found primarily in semen. This test will indicate the
mass of the semen if the PSA test is positive. Why
the AP test should never be used alone (such as a home
AP kit).
- Human Salivary
Amylase (HSA) - This is the first confirmatory test for
human saliva. The outcome of this test will determine if
oral sex may have been performed even if the semen detection
