A case of condom infidelity The wife found a condom in the den trashcan. The vasectomized husband swore that it was not his and challenged his wife to have the condom sent in for DNA testing stating that it was from one of their kids. All children denied they were involved so she sent it to us for analysis. The condom produced a clear male profile on the inside and a combination DNA profile on the outside. Once we produced the report, the wife sent in a beer can of her husbands for comparison analysis. The results clearly show that it was his DNA in the condom. Since the husband is vasectomized a differential lysis to separate the male DNA from the potential female DNA on sample R2 would not be possible. The customers information was edited from the following report. Analysis Report Case # FR2008859 (GQ0018822) Evidence The items to be tested are; R1-one 1.7 mL tube containing “swab samples of condom side #1”; R2-one 1.7 mL tube containing “swab samples of condom #2” and R3- 1.7 ml tube containing three buccal swabs labeled “beer can swabs”. Analysis DNA extraction, PCR and Genotyper were performed on the samples R1, R2 and R3. DNA ANALYSIS RESULTS: Allele and number of repeats
*Minor peaks obtained. Conclusions: Based on the analysis of the alleles D3S1358, THO1, D21S11, D18S51, Penta E, D5S818, D13S317, D7S820, D16S539, CSF1PO, Penta D, vWA, D8S1179, TPOX, and FGA, the profiles obtained for Samples R1 and R2 are not identical. R1 cannot be excluded as a contributor to R2. Samples R1 and R3 are identical. The profile obtained for Samples R1 and R3 occurs, approximately 1 in every 1.45x1022 persons of the General population. |
