A case of wrongful accusations The husband suspected his wife of infidelity and ordered a semen detection from a different company. The semen test was positive and the sample was sent to us for analysis. The customer was misinformed that because he was vasectomized that if any male profile was obtained that it would not be him so he did not want his profile run. Once the first DNA profile was completed and he informed his wife of the outcome, she continually took the stance that she had never cheated on him. She finally convinced him to order a comparison sample on himself. The results proved that he was the contributor to the stain. He called our company and the lab director to complain that it was not possible that we obtained his DNA from his wife's panties. We assured him that we can easily extract a vasectomized male's DNA from a semen stain. The report is shown below with the customer data removed. Case # FR2006626y (DTC0027707r2) On January 9, 2006, Federal Express delivered (Tracking number: 85345507XXXX) an envelope from DNA Testing Centre, Inc. in Euless, TX to the office. The envelope contained samples that were checked in and stored in the freezer until analysis. On May 9, 2006, Federal Express delivered (Tracking number: 79273474XXXX) an envelope from DNA Testing Centre, Inc. in Euless, TX to the office. The envelope contained samples that were checked in and processed immediately. Evidence The items to be tested are: R1- 1.7ml tube with black material in solution labeled as “SSD1, 2, PSA, microtube”. R2- Two buccal swabs labeled as “Customer”. R Analysis Cell lysis, DNA extraction, PCR and Genotyper were performed on a small section of the samples. In addition, a Y-PLEX PCR analyzing the alleles DYS389I, DYS439, DYS438, DYS437, DYS392, DYS393, DYS19, DYS389II, DYS390, DYS391, and DYS385 was also performed on the samples. Results:
Conclusions: Based on the analysis of the alleles DYS391, DYS389I, DYS439, DYS389II, DYS438, DYS437, DYS19, DYS392, DYS393, DYS390, and DYS385, the profiles obtained from Samples R1 and R2 are consistent with male DNA and are identical. This profile occurs in approximately 1 of 1108 male members of the Black population.
