DNA Analysis Report

Case # FR2008904 (GQ0019041)

On July 23rd 2008, an envelope was delivered by Federal Express (Tracking number 7989 8356 XXXX).  The contents were immediately checked-in and moved toet he extraction area for analysis. On August 1st 2008, an envelope was by Federal Express (Tracking Number 7927 3475 XXXX).  The contents were immediately checked-in and moved to the extraction area for analysis.

Evidence

The item to be tested is Sample R1- A 1.7 ml tube containing contents from a positive saliva test.  Sample R2 – A tube containing contents labeled “Replacement sample Saliva YPLEX FR2008904”.  Sample R1 was consumed in testing on July 31 2008. Sample R2 was consumed in testing on August 5 2008.

Analysis

Cell lysis, DNA extraction, PCR and Genotyper was performed on a small section of the sample. In addition, a Y-PLEX PCR analyzing the alleles DYS389I, DYS439, DYS438, DYS437, DYS392, DYS393, DYS19, DYS389II, DYS390, DYS391, and DYS385 was also performed on the sample.

Conclusions:

Based on the analysis of the alleles DYS389I, DYS439, DYS438, DYS437, DYS392, DYS393, DYS19, DYS389II, DYS390, DYS391, and DYS385, the profile obtained from Sample R2 is consistent with male DNA. This profile occurs in approximately 1 of 4004 male members of the General population.  No profile was obtained from Sample R1.
