DNA extraction from used condom for male DNA.

The wife found the used condom in the trash.  The husband said it was his child's or someone else.  The DNA extraction proved that it was his semen/sperm in the condom.  A YPLEX extraction would not have resolved this situation because a son was involved.  It is important that we understand the specifics of your case to make sure the proper test is run.

Analysis Report

Case # FR20044555 (GQ0016919)

On August 19, 2004, USPS Priority Mail delivered an envelope to the office. The envelope contained two samples that were checked in and processed immediately.

Evidence

The items to be tested are R1, a used condom, received in a sealed DTC envelope labeled as, “Marley Paul,” and R2, two buccal swabs received in a sealed DTC enveloped labeled as “Marley Paul.”

Analysis

DNA extraction, PCR and Genotyper were performed on the two samples and the DNA profiles are compared below.

Conclusions:

The profiles obtained for R1, a used condom, received in a sealed DTC envelope labeled as, “Marley Paul,” and R2, two buccal swabs received in a sealed DTC enveloped labeled as, “Marley Paul” are identical. This profile is found in approximately one in 4.54669x1026 people of the African American population.
